We installed a new version of Winnow last Friday (sorry for the late notice).

Winnow now supports sorting items by strength. The sort control is near the bottom of the sidebar. The sort considers only the tags being used for filtering, and simply picks the strongest tag strength. We’re interested in feedback on how this works for you, and what could make it more useful.

In addition we changed Winnow to hide read items by default, and also provided a checkbox to show read items (also near the bottom of the sidebar). This change is important because otherwise when sorting by strength, the top of the list would tend to become cluttered with read items.

We added tag strength to tooltips (except for public tags, that is coming soon) so you can see the strength of tags (between 90% and 100%).

You can now change the state of items on the sidebar, without affecting any other items, using command-click. This provides much finer control over which items are selected at any given time.

The control for adding tags to items has been greatly improved. Also, you can now add new feeds to Winnow and create new tags using the sidebar controls.

We fixed many, many bugs and added further enhancements to the layout and interaction, but the functionality is largely the same.
